Troubleshooting

The problems people actually hit, and how to get past them.

9 steps

  • The code never arrived. Check your spam folder, then ask for a new one. Codes expire after a few minutes, so an old email will not work.
  • Nothing happens when I click Connect. Your browser is probably blocking the pop-up window. Allow pop-ups for this site and try again.
  • Still stuck. Try a different browser, or a private window with extensions switched off. An ad-blocker is the usual culprit.

Your session has expired — almost always because the page was left open for a long time. Nothing is wrong with your account.

  1. Click Retry.
  2. If that does nothing, refresh the page.
  3. If it still does nothing, sign out and sign in again.
  • Neither Apply nor Studio is in the menu — you are not signed in. Click Connect at the top right.
  • Apply is there but Studio is not — your publisher application has not been approved yet. See What happens next.
  • Studio opens but says Role Required — the same thing: the approval has not come through.
  • I was approved but still see Apply — refresh the page. The menu updates on the next load.

"No book found for this ISBN" means the book is not in the public catalogues we search. This is very common for new titles and for local publishing, and it is not a fault. Type the title, author and description in yourself and carry on — the book will publish exactly the same way.

"Invalid ISBN checksum" is different: a digit is wrong. Check it against the copyright page of the book, digit by digit.

A book with that ISBN is already on the platform, and the same ISBN cannot be used twice.

  1. Search your own Studio list first — most of the time a colleague has already added it.
  2. Check you are using the right ISBN. Every edition has its own: the paperback, the hardback and the e-book do not share one.
  3. If you are certain the ISBN is yours and someone else has used it, write to [email protected] with the ISBN and the title.

A red bar names exactly what is missing. Here is every message and where to fix it:

  • Fill in title, description and category — step 1.
  • Enter a valid ISBN — step 1, the first field.
  • Add a book file (EPUB or PDF) — step 2.
  • Add a cover image — step 2.
  • Enter a price or Enter a max supply (1–10,000) — step 3. Both are required.
  • Sale end must be after the sale start — step 3, correct the dates.
  • A published book already uses this ISBN — see the previous step.
  • Anything about the royalty split — the shares total more than 20%, or a wallet address is not valid. Step 3.

If there is no Submit for Review button at all and you only see Save as Draft, you are signed in as a team member rather than as the publisher. Submitting stays with the main publisher account — see Team roles.

  • Cover image — JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF, under 10 MB. A photo straight off a phone is often far bigger than that; resize it first.
  • Book file — EPUB or PDF, under 500 MB.
  • Application documents — PDF only, under 50 MB each. A JPG scan will be refused; convert it to PDF.
  • The upload just stalls — a slow connection can time out on a large file. Try again on a better connection before you conclude the file is at fault.

No harm done. Nothing at all happens until you approve, so a closed window leaves everything exactly as it was.

Start the action again and approve the window this time.

If you were publishing a book, pressing Publish again is safe and will not register it twice — see If publishing fails halfway.

Write to [email protected]. To get a useful answer on the first reply rather than the third, include:

  • What you were trying to do
  • The exact message you saw, copied word for word
  • The book title or ISBN, if it is about a book
  • A screenshot if you can manage one
Tip:Every step on this page has its own link. Hover over a step title and click the copy icon to get a link straight to it. Handy for explaining something to a colleague — and it is how our support team will point you at the right instructions.
